The Drivers
Jim "The Bounty Hunter" Woodin: Jim is married to wife Tange, has two sons, James and The Prodigy, and one daugther, Autumn who is only 2 yrs old. After 16 years of racing stock cars, this man has his knowledge of racing. He is the owner and CEO of Woodin Motorsports. Doing pretty much all of the hands on work himself. He has countless wins, and track records. Tracks ranging from Galesburg and Toledo, to owosso and angola. He has raced all over the trisate area. Winning almost everywhere he goes. He raced Super Late models most of his carrer and in 1997 decided to take the step up to the Ice-Man series. But that stint was short lived as the money couldn't keep up with the car. So he went back to super late models and finished out a steller year. He then moved out of the racing scene, but managed to race on and off throughout the years of 98' through 01'. In 2003 he returned full-time and managed a second place finish in the points in the late model division at Galesburg Speedway. In 2004, Jim made a run at the ASA series, but was seriously under funded and was forced to run superpro. In 2005, after missing the first week of racing, he managed another second place finish in points, with 15 wins and the track record in the sporsman divison. In 2006 Jim plans to run some ARCA short track races, and races at Kalamazoo in the sportman divison while helping his son race in ASA.
Tom "The Prodigy" Woodin: At 17 years old and a senior in high school, tom is still pursuing his dream of racing. After about 4 years with numerous wins in go-carts, Tom finally made the step up to stock cars. Last year he had a street stock that he got out late in the year at Galesburg. In his 5 races at galesburg, he managed to put the car in the dash 4 nights. With finishes in 7th place, 3rd (twice), 4th once, and one hell of a wall job! At the end of the year show at springport motor speedway he managed to get a win in only his 6th start. Holding off big old Bob Garret (season champ)for the win, it was a win by merely inches. Next year he is moving up into the ASA late model series, he will also run a few super pro races and help his dad on the ARCA car and at kalamazoo.
The Crew
Russ "The bald guy" Crow: Russ has been in racing his whole life. Russ raced as a young man, but wihtout the finiacal backing, he decided to expand his knowledge and become a crew chief. Russ moved down south and for five years, was a crew man on Eric Smiths ARCA team, they set 2 poles while Russ was helping. He also was a part time employee on a Crafstman Truck team. Moving back north with endless knowledge of tires and the set-up of race cars, Russ soon flurished. For 4 years he helped out Dale Mcghan on his late model at galesburg, with one track championship under his belt, and one second place finish as a crew chief. Then Russ met up with Jim, and decided they wanted to move up in the sport together. In 2002 Russ started his crew chiefing with Jim, planning for the future. In 2003 they worked together to put a good run at a championship and fell just short with a second place finish. Russ also found time to help Jimmy Hollenbeck ARCA team at short tracks and MIS. In 2004 Russ and Jim tried the ranks of ASA, but unfortuantely it was under finianced and they were forced to run superpro. In 2005 Russ helped the run for the championship, and just fell short again. Russ then decided to purchase the ARCA short track car from Jimmy Hollenbeck and is starting his owner career with Jim in 2006. Hoping to run at least 4 to 6 shows in the ARCA series.
Terry "ain't gotta nickname" Woodin: Terry is married to Vivan and has only the one son, Jim. The second generation of Woodin's to be in racing, Terry was tight on money, and never really could afford the best equipment to race. But his love for the sport is what drove him to put his son in racing. He started Jim out in go-carts at the age of 8 and it has grown ever since. In 1990 Terry decided to help put Jim into his first ever full size stock car. Terry has helped Jim for many of years, and still comes to the track to help out. He himself has built a couple of vintage race cars. While still showing up at the shop as the heading wiring guy of the team. Terry remains to be a valuable part of the woodin motorsports racing program.
James "Big cat" Woodin: The big cat has done some racing in his years. He raced go-karts for one year and then moved into mini-sprints for a year. He had some wins in go-karts, but always seem to be at the wrong place at the wrong time in mini-sprints. James moved into stock cars half-way through 2005 and unfortuantley in only his 4th night, after making the A-main in the sportsman divison two nights in a rwo, he was wrecked and the car was unrepariable. James has been a crew member since the 2001 season with the team, and part time fabricator at woodin motorsports. He is now going to Bobby Issac Motorsports school in Hickory, NC in an effort to make it into the big leagues of racing.
Charlie "krispy kreme" Bartha: Charlie is married with 2 daughters. He has been Russ right hand man for years, dating back to Russ's days with Dale McGhan. Charlie is an all around great crew guy, he does tires and general maintence on the car. But best of all, this man brings the Krispy Kreme's for the crew. Charlie will be moving forward to helping the team move up in the ranks, and we look forward to having Charlie help out along the way.
More soon to come as we expand the team!
